Point at it.Say what's wrong.Send the picture.

A widget you drop on your site. Anyone looking at a page points at what's wrong, writes on it and sends you the picture, screen after screen, without creating an account.

atelier-lumen.be
A demo shop's checkout with the Feedback widget open: a general remark, then one numbered comment on each of three screens, the last on a payment-error dialog.
This is the real widget. Try it, bottom right of this page.

Three steps, and the visitor needs no account

  1. Point

A picker highlights whatever the cursor is over, the way browser devtools do. Click to attach a note to it, or hold to draw a rectangle.

  2. Comment

Each note gets a coloured outline and a numbered pin, listed in the panel screen by screen, so nothing is ambiguous about which element is meant.

  3. Send

One click sends every screen to your project, each rendered with its outlines and its legend beside the page. Copy, or Download when there are several screens, hands over the same images instead.

How it works

01For the visitor

One report, several screens

The visitor changes page or opens a dialog? The widget follows and starts a new screen. Each screen leaves as an image, its comments beside it.

The widget's preview of a three-screen report: the cart, checkout, then the payment-error dialog, each with its comment below.
The three screens as they are sent, one image each, their comments in a strip beside the page.

02For your team

Everything lands in your project

Screens in order, comments beside them, and the details nobody writes down: browser, screen, language, time zone. Sent on to Linear and Slack, with one click or automatically.

A three-screen report in the app: the screens on the left; on the right the comments by screen, and the report sent as Linear issue WEB-142 and to Slack's #support.

Installation

01The tag

One line, and it's installed

Paste it before </body>. It carries your project's key and reads its options from its own attributes.

<script
  src="https://cdn.feedback.o27.io/widget.js"
  data-project-key="your-key"
  defer
></script>

Options

data-position
Which corner the button starts in: top-left, top-right, bottom-left or bottom-right.
data-offset-x
How far the button sits from the left or right edge, in pixels, without a unit. Defaults to 20.
data-offset-y
How far the button sits from the top or bottom edge, in pixels, without a unit. Defaults to 20.
data-compact
Whether the button keeps its label. auto, the default, drops it only on narrow viewports; always keeps the icon alone.
data-accent
The colour of the button and of the widget's panel.
data-locale
Force the widget's own language instead of detecting the visitor's.
Every option, in the documentation

02Privacy

What never leaves the page

A visitor is handing you a picture of your own product with their data on it. The widget draws the line before the picture is taken, and the visitor can see where it is.

  • Form fields, text areas and embedded frames are left out of every image by default.
  • Mark a region with data-feedback="private" to blur it, data-feedback="public" to keep it readable, or list selectors in data-exclude. Without a marker, navigation and controls stay readable and the rest blurs.
  • The snippet says what the site shows. An application keeps the default blur; a public site such as a showcase or documentation blurs nothing unless the page marks it. Pick it in the project's install options.
  • A report carries the page's origin, not its path, its query or its title.
  • Console recording is off until you turn it on, and then keeps levels and timings, not messages.
  • The visitor sees what is hidden, can hide more before sending, and can choose to show a region for that one report.

Past your monthly quota

New reports are kept and hidden, not dropped: upgrading reveals them.

  1. Your plan sets a monthly quota

Each paid plan includes a number of reports a month, shown on its card. It starts again every month.

  2. Past it, nothing is lost

New reports are still received and kept, but locked. A locked report is deleted after 7 days.

Questions

Everything about switching plans, packs and what happens to your reports.

Another question? Write to us
What happens to my locked reports when I upgrade?

They open right away. Nothing was deleted: Free keeps every report and only opens the most recent ones.

Can I go back to a smaller plan?

Yes. The change takes effect at the end of the period you paid for; until then nothing changes.

What if I move up in the middle of a period?

The time you already paid for and did not use is credited to the new plan.

Do report packs expire?

No. A pack stays available until its reports are used, from one month to the next.

The next bug report comes with the picture.

A free account, one script tag, and every visitor can show you what's wrong.
